Q I have bought a new computer, running XP Home with Excel 2003. Whenever I click on Insert/Comment, a box comes up with my name on it. I would like to permanently delete my name from the comment box. How can I do this?

I. Bainbridge

A From the Tools menu, select Options, the General tab and User name text box, and you can change or delete the user name. When in the General tab, another change you should consider making is to increase the Recently Used File List to 9. I am often referring to recent files and the default Microsoft value too small.

Q I receive a lot of spam, which is directed into a "spam" folder in Outlook 2003. Can I create a right-click option to delete this folder's contents in one go rather than deleting the items one by one or using Shift + click to highlight the contents of the folder?

G. Walske

A I am not aware of how to delete all mail in a folder and keep the folder. However, there is one way that you can achieve this with only a couple of keystrokes. Open the folder, click on one item then Ctrl+a to select all contents, then press the Del key and the lot is gone.
